Eric Hanna

Eric Hanna is the President and CEO of Michigan Community Capital. Eric has worked for over 20 years at the intersection of banking and public policy. After a career in consumer mortgage, Eric worked for Citizens Republic Bank (now Huntington) as a commercial credit analyst and then at the Michigan Economic Development Corporation where he held multiple roles of increasing responsibility ending as the Director of Debt Capital Markets.  This role included responsibility for over $200M in complex credit enhancements, targeted to soften the blow of the great recession on Michigan businesses and to assist the State in closing gaps in complex, layered real estate projects considered critical to community development goals.

Eric facilitated the founding of State investments for two private equity funds responsible for over $120M in leveraged capital, assisted organizations in attaining Community Reinvestment Act compliance, raised over $30M in capital directly at MCC and assisted in the drafting and implementation of the State Small Business Credit Initiative.  This Initiative, carried within the Small Business Banking and Jobs Act of 2010, was a $1.5B federal initiative to support small businesses at the State level during the most recent recession.

Eric holds a Bachelor’s degree in Public Affairs with a specialized concentration in Finance from Indiana University and an MBA with a specialization in Finance from The University of Liverpool, UK. He is often correctly characterized by his two daughters as an “ok” dad and is generally well tolerated by his wife.
